Zoning Approved for Pinckneuville Fertilizer Plant

</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[The Perry County Board Thursday approved a resolution for a five-year Special Use Permit for Loyd Farm Supply to operate a fertilizer supply plant on a 7.5 acre parcel on the south side of 212 Road just east of the former 212 school.

There will be a 65' x 85' plant and a 20' x 30' office building.

Zoning Administrator Jeff Ashauer said the Zoning Board worked with Kevin Loyd to ensure the fertilizer supply plant would be a good neighbor.

There were several conditions attached to the special use permit, including upgrading the 212 road at the entrance to the plant per Unit Road District requirements, erecting privacy screening between the plant and neighbors, keeping equipment stored outside the building blocked from the road, if possible, not creating a nuisance for neighbors (noise, vibration, smoke, odor, heat, glare or electrical interference) and following all state permit rules, keeping permits current and filing them with the Zoning Administrator.

In the case of disputes with neighbors, the Zoning Administrator will mediate.

When asked if the conditions would be a problem, Loyd replied that the state will be much stricter.

Loyd Farm Supplies fertilizer plant will be a seasonal farm support business that will provide approximately 8 to 10 jobs.

Commissioner Sam Robb asked about the storage of anhydrous ammonia tanks. Loyd said that he looked into fencing, but was told by the state that the preferred security method is a tank lock. Thieves don't find fences to be much of a deterrent, he said.

In other business, the board:
