</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[The Okaw Regional Vocational System and System Director, James Heil, is pleased to announce that eight students from the system schools have recently been awarded career and technical education scholarships ranging from $500 to $1,000. These scholarships are funded by a Waterloo High School alumnus who lives in Charlotte, North Carolina and wants to assist students who want to pursue a "vocational" career. Each high school can submit two applicants. The scholarship committee interviews each student and awards up to eight scholarships each year to deserving seniors.

The following students received the scholarship this spring: Kelsee Johnston, Columbia High School; Christopher Fullerton, Coulterville High School; Kelci Hofstetter, Dupo High School; Kayla McCauley, Marissa High School; Seth Causey, New Athens High School; Corey Hale, Sparta High School; Kristin Baum, Valmeyer High School; and Phillip Erzinger, Valmeyer High School.
