Technicolor Assessment Drops Like a Rock— to $250,000
</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[The Perry County Board of Tax Review has given the new owners of the Technicolor Universal Corp. a two-year pass on the tax assessment to the sprawling industrial complex east of Pinckneyville. The plant is currently unused as the new owner, Higman, LLC maps a plan for future use of the property. In the meantime, the assessment has been dropped from $2,513,461 down to an even $250,000 for the next two tax years. Assessments are typically one-third of the fair market value of the property. It will be the City of Pinckneyville's TIF development district hurt most by the change. Of the $250,305 tax bill last year, the Pinckneyville TIF got $219,468. Schools, etc. got less than $30,000 total from the tax bill. Current tax bills could go out before July 1 and the Pinckneyville TIF could see its income drop by roughly $185,000 because of the change.
