Chester Music Patrons awards camperships to Chester Grade School music students

</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[The Chester Music Patrons awarded six camperships to Chester Grade School music students at the 2010 CGS Annual Spring Concert. The Music Patrons Camperships are presented to outstanding vocal and instrumental students who will attend the 2010 summer music camps at Eastern Illinois and Southern Illinois Universities this summer.

The instrumental music camperships are to be utilized to help defer the costs to the 2010 Southern Illinois University Summer Music Camp. The Music Patrons presented one full campership which covered the entire amount of the week-long camp while two half camperships were presented covering half the cost of camp.

The recipient of the 2010 full campership was Sarah Bindel, a CGS 8th grader. Miss Bindel will attend Chester High School next fall and will perform in the CHS Marching Band, the CHS Pep Band, and the CHS Concert Band. Bindel plays the trumpet and is expected to augment the CHS trumpet section next year as a freshman.

One of the half camperships was presented to 8th grader, Jacob Long. Long plays bass clarinet and will also be enrolling in the CHS marching band, the CHS Pep Band and the CHS Concert Band. Long has played in the CGS bands for years and will be an asset to CHS next fall.

The other half campership was presented to Maddison Conner. Conner will be a freshman at CHS next fall and plans to perform in the CHS marching Yellow Jackets, the CHS Pep Band and the CHS Concert Band. Conner plays the clarinet and will definitely be a leader in the clarinet section throughout her high school years.

The vocal camperships are to be used to help send two students to the eastern Illinois University Swing Choir camp this summer. The Chester Music Patrons Full Swing Choir campership was awarded to 8th grader Joel Clendenin. Clendenin will graduate from CGS this spring and will attend Chester High School in the fall.

The other vocal campership was the Jane Tanner Kruse Vocal campership which was presented in memory of Melissa Reiman this year. Reiman was an outstanding vocalist at CGS and CHS throughout her school years. The winner of this campership was Jade South. South will also be a freshman at CHS next year and will sing in the Chester High School Swing Choir, "Sound Affect".

The camperships were presented to the students at the Spring Concert by Dr. Jim and Vicky Beers who serve as Co-Presidents of the Chester Music Patrons. Steve Colonel, CHS Band and Choral Director served as Master of Ceremonies for the presentations and Jane Kruse presented the Jane Tanner Kruse Vocal Campership in memory of Melissa Reiman.
