Local athletes compete at state

</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[Three local schools sent qualifiers to the IHSA Girls State Track Meet in Charleston last weekend.

Four Sparta girls competed in the preliminary round. Jackie Robinson finished eighth in her flight in the triple jump with a distance of 15&#39; 7.5" and ninth in her flight of the long jump with a distance of 33&#39;2", but neither mark was good enough to advance to the finals. Elizabeth Blair the shot put for a distance of 34&#39;7.25", which placed her seventh in her flight but did not advance her to the finals.

Rachel Peck&#39;s preliminary round mark of 9&#39;6" tied her for first in her flight and was good enough to advance to the championships. There, she went 9&#39;3" to finish in 13th place overall. In the 3200 meter run there are no preliminaries. Aleigh Eggemeyer finished in 27th place overall with a time of 12:19.4. She also ran in the preliminaries of the 1600 and finished sixth in her heat with a time of 5:28.09 but did not advance to the finals.

Steeleville&#39;s Rachel Duensing competed in both hurdles events but did not qualify for the finals. In the 300 hurdles she finished in seventh in her heat in a time of 51.85 and eighth in 17.85. Jill Winkleman threw the discus for a distance of 105&#39;11", which placed her sixth in her flight but did not advance her to the finals.

Red Bud was represented by Abby Brundage in the shot put. She finished seventh in her preliminary flight with a distance of 34&#39;7.25 but did not qualify for the finals.
