Monday's prep track: Dejear, Pyatt first at champs meet
</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[Two local athletes returned home from the Southern Illinois Meet of Champions Monday at SIU's McAndrew Stadium with first place medals.
Pinckneyville junior Taylor Pyatt won the triple jump (43'4 1/2) and Du Quoin freshman sensation Kiyanna Dejear streaked home in first place in the 400 (60.88).
Dejear was the lone participant for the Lady Indians.
Pinckneyville was fifth in the 4x200 relay (Jake Bathon, Dylan Hagene, Robbie Knight and Neil Kellerman). Bathon was fourth in the high jump.
Du Quoin's boys team elected not to attend the event.
Karson Hoffman (400, triple jump) and Brock Morgenstern (shot put) head to Charleston Thursday's for the IHSA State preliminaries.
