Du Quoin Founders Day Planned

</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[At the recent Du Quoin Chamber of Commerce meeting Pastor Rich Luh from St. John's United Church of Christ brought up the idea of having a Founders' Day celebration for our area. After some discussion, it was decided that the chamber certainly was interested in this kind of event--basically replacing what once was Heritage Days.

But, the chamber felt that this event should be planned for the Fall of 2011 to give more time to organize it.

So, according to Pastor Luh, for all organizations, businesses, churches and individuals from the Du Quoin area there will be an organizational meeting to get this project off and running on Wednesday evening, June 9 at the St. John's United Church of Christ, 20 S. Hickory Street at 6:30 p.m.

If you want to be part of this, please see that at least one representative from your group attend. If that is not possible and you are interested, please let Pastor Rich Luh know of your interest and give him the name, phone number and address of a contact for your group as soon as possible by call the church at 542-3431 or Pastor Rich Luh at 618-542-7706.

Pastor commented, "This can be a great celebration for this area to enjoy for years to come! Let's get the ball rolling by coming to this meeting. The purpose of this meeting is to put our heads together and come up with definite ideas for this event and then start working on getting it all together. With your help; with your willingness to give of some of your time, talent and enthusiasm, we can do it!"
