Bulldogs fall to Murphysboro
</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[Despite outhitting them 9-5, Sparta's baseball squad suffered a tough loss to Murphysboro last Thursday by a score of 5-4. Murphysboro took a 4-0 lead on one run in the first, one in the third and two in the top of the fourth. Sparta finally fought back when they came up with four runs in the bottom of the fourth. Neither team could get much going on offense after that until Murphysboro came up with one more run in the 11th inning to grab the victory.
Darius Jackson, Chris Theobald and Jordan Thompson all had two hits apiece for Sparta while Josh Lloyd added a single and two RBIs. Thompson was the starting pitcher for Sparta. Dalton Robert relieved him in the eighth and took the loss.
