"A Christmas Carol" Coming to Du Quoin

</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[Pastor Rich Luh of the St. John's United Church of Christ in Du Quoin is working overtime to identify events that will bring more people to Du Quoin and to downtown Du Quoin.

To that end, his church is planning to bring the time-honored Charles Dickens classic "The Christmas Carol" to the stage during the holiday season.

The date for the Christmas play has not been announced, but will complement all of the holiday schedule in Du Quoin, including Holiday Lights.

There will be a sign-up and a read through for parts in the Du Quoin Interfaith Community Theater production of "A Christmas Carol" on Saturday, June 12 from 10 a.m. to 12 noon at St. John's United Church of Christ, 20 South Hickory Street (the church by the west end of the overpass). Please enter the side door from the parking lot near the overpass. Pastor Luh is hoping to put this on in early December. Rehearsals will start in early September.

If you cannot make this initial gathering, but are interested in being part of this play--either as an actor, staging or costume making, etc., please call pastor at the church at 618-542-3431 by June 11. When calling, tell him what area of the production you are interested in. "I am looking for people of all ages (5 and older) who are willing to commit themselves to memorizing their parts and being at as many rehearsals as possible.
