Wednesday's boys prep track: Smith, Hoffman, Pyatt post career bests

With Aaron Smith and Karson Hoffman recording first place efforts, Du Quoin High School's boys track team posted a solid finish Wednesday at the 43rd annual Chuck Oyler Invitational at Benton Middle School.
The Indians (78) were well behind champion Sparta's 138 points and a close second (86) to Nashville. Pinckneyville (39) was sixth among the 15squads entered.
Hoffman (50.1) won the 400 meter dash while Smith (22'7 1/2) flew to a career best in winning the long jump
Pinckneyville's Taylor Pyatt (43'9) edged Hoffman (43'8) for first in the triple jump.
Both the Panthers and Indians send frosh-soph teams to the Du Quoi Invitational Friday at Van Metre Field.
