Wednesday's men's fastpitch softball: SIFL opens at Pinckneyville and Elkville

</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[Pinckneyville KC/Lee&#39;s Sports Falcons opened Southern Illinois Fastpitch League (SIFL) play by sweeping a doubleheader from the Pinckneyville Relics Wednesday at Greg Hale Field in Pinckneyville.

Scores were 8-1 and 10-0 as Mark Radake and John Kiselewski nailed down pitching wins.

Haven Hicks led KC/Lee&#39;s Sports with a 6-for-7 effort in the doubleheader. He had three home runs.

Eric Saunders finished with four hits on the night.

Also Wednesday, SIFL play started at Elkville with Elkville Fastpitch sweeping Davis Auto Center of Makanda.Scores were 9-6 and 10-0 as Bryant Hale won the first game in relief and then tossed a five-inning shutout in the nightcap.

The Southern Illinois Bulls swept Knight Hawk DirtBags on the other diamond, 9-3 and 10-9.

Saturday, KC/Lee&#39;s hosts a round robin tournament at Pinckneyville.

Play begins at 9 a.m. with Southern Illinois Bulls, Pete's Blues (Swansea)and Belleville Stallions entered.
