Wednesday's prep baseball: Tribe blows past ZRC Tornadoes

</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[Kegan Robbins and Sam Gossett combined on a two-hitter Wednesday afternoon, pushing Du Quoin past Zeigler-Royalton/Christopher (ZRC) in prep baseball action.

The final score was 14-4 in five innings as the Tribe improved its record to 11-6. ZRC is 6-5.

Robbins (3-1) gained the victory by allowing just one run over the first three innings with five strikeouts.

Gossett tossed the final two frames.

The lone Tornadoes run came in the third.

Brandon George and Jake Stanhouse managed two hits and two RBI apiece for Du Quoin with Seth Baxter and J.C. Davis also adding a pair of safeties.

Andrew Riley had a bases-clearing triple in the fifth and led the diamonf Tribe three runs.

"We did a good job of hitting and field today," Indians coach Tim Craft said. "We had several kids do a really good job of hitting with runners on base."

Friday, Du Quoin (3-2) plays an important River-to-River Conference game at Sparta.

JUNIOR VARSITY UPDATE

Du Quoin High School&#39;s junior varsity baseball team is off to a flying start in 2010, winning eight of its first nine games.

The lone loss was a 2-1 decision against Mt. Vernon.

Monday, Du Quoin defeated Nashville 7-5 and posted a 15-2 win at Anna-Jonesboro Tuesday to remain perfect in SIRR play
