Monday's SIRR softball: Mistakes haunt Lady Indians

</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[A flurry of key mistakes and some timely hitting by Nashvillle handed Du Quoin a disappointing setback in girls prep softball Tuesday.

The Lady Indians (11-4) dipped to 2-2 in River-to-River Conference play following an 8-6 home loss on Lefty Pyle Field to Nashville (6-3, 2-2).

Du Quoin visits Anna-Jonesboro Tuesday.

Lacey Gill had two hits and drove in three runs for Nashville with winning hurler Shay Harre adding two hits and three RBI while tossing a seven-hitter.

The Lady Indians held a 4-3 lead before the Hornettes scored five times-three of those runs unearned-in the sixth inning.

Freshman Kelsey Robins on had two hits, including a home run, for the Lady Tribe with Heather Cavins adding two hits and a homer.

Jessica Hirsch was the third Lady Indian to post two hits.

Chelsea Hill (6-2) pitched entire game for DHS and was handed the mound loss.

"Again we hit the ball very well," Du Quoin coach Jason James said.

"This is another game we should have won. We committed two big errors in the sixth inning that led to the five unearned runs."

Pinckneyville (3-1, Anna-Jonesboro (3-1) and Sparta (3-1) are all tied atop the SIRR standings following Monday's games.

Du Quoin and Nashville remain two games out with marks of 2-2.
