Lady Bulldogs on a roll
</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[Sparta's softball team continued their winning ways last week with three non-conference victories.
Tuesday the Lady Bulldogs easily dispatched Carbondale by a score of 10-1. Carbondale was held to a lone tally in the first while Sparta scored in every inning but the second. Alexis Kohrs pitched a complete game and allowed only four hits to get the win. Offensive leaders for the Lady Bulldogs were Jade Vaughn with three hits and Taylor Martin and Kohrs with two hits apiece.
In their next game Sparta topped Okawville by a score of 7-4. The contest was tied 2-2 after three innings, but Sparta came alive with two in the fourth, two in the fifth and one in the sixth. Okawville tried to rally with two in the seventh but it wasn't enough. Julian Sorka took the win for Sparta. In seven innings she allowed seven hits. Martin and Jamie Woodworth both had great days at the plate for the Lady Bulldogs, banging out three hits apiece.
Sparta finished their week with a 5-0 win over Trico. The Lady Bulldogs scored all five of their runs in the fifth inning to get the victory. Allie Valleroy was the top hitter with a single and two RBI's while Martin had one hit and one RBI.
