Prep Baseball & Softball: Sparta sweeps past Elverado

</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[The two-hit pitching of Alexis Kohrs kept Sparta High School's softball squad undefeated Wednesday in an 8-1 win over Elverado.

Now 1-2, the Lady Falcons are idle until Saturday's trip to Chester.

Kohrs struck out seven and surrendered just a single to Rachel Hunziker and Sami Hicks' RBI double.

Kelsi Teague (0-1) took the pitching loss, giving 10 hits.

"The first inning was a bit rough for Kelsi." Lady Falcons coach Donette Wheatley said. "She had just been released by the doctor (knee injury) a few hours before the game. She settled down and got better as the game went on."

BASEBALL

The host Bulldogs (4-0) continued a strong start with a 7-0 whitewash of Elverado in Wednesday's baseball game.

Jordan Thompson whiffed 14 batters and surrendered just a single basehit-that coming from Landry Arnett-in the seven-inning affair.

Kyle Kempfer took the mound loss for the Fighting Falcons, who host Century and Chester Saturday morning.
