Boys Spring Sports: Rough start for Fighting Falcons
</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[The 2010 baseball season opened in a rough manner for Elverado High School's Falcons Tuesday.
Visiting Crab Orchard scored 15 times in the first three innings en route to an easy 18-1 win.
Elverado plays at home again Wednesday, hosting Webber Township at 4 o'clock.
The lone Elverado run scored in the second inning as Troy Stewart drew a bases loaded walk.
Freshman Kyle Whittington, Collin Hester and Bryce Mathis all drew walks ahead of Stewart.
In the first inning, Stewart had a single which turned out to be the lone Falcon safety.
