Pinckneyville eliminates Chester

</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[ In the first round of last week's Class 2A Regional Tournament at Chester, the host squad lost to Pinckneyville by a score of 74-53. The contest was actually closer than the final score might indicate. The Yellow Jackets held the lead for most of the first quarter and parts of the second and were still within striking distance after three quarters, thanks in part to a spectacular three-point shot by Aaron Grah that found the basket after going about 3/4 of the length of the court. But Pinckneyville, the top seed and eventual regional champion, came out strong in the fourth quarter and outscored Chester 9-0 in the opening minutes to put the contest out of reach.

Zach Lochhead had a good night on offense and finished as Chester's leading scorer with 24 points, Justin Woodward put in 16, Grah had 11 and Brett Barthol added two. Woodward was the leading rebounder and Lochhead had several key steals.
