Board approves resolution authorizing dismissal of part-time educational support personnel

</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[The Board of Education of Chester Community Unit School District No. 139 met in the Chester School District Unit Office on February 18, 2010. President Beers called the Regular Meeting to order at 7:00 p.m.

Dr. Beers, Jayme Watkins, and Laura Liefer presented the board information on Operation Safe Teens Driving.

Ms. Keim presented the board information on FY10 and FY11 Financial Projections.

The CEA Co-Presidents, Nicki Wingerter and Lynne Gonzalez, spoke to the board about how well the meetings have gone between them and the administrators.

The board approved the minutes for the regular meeting and executive session of January 21, 2010.

Rich Clasen updated the board on the Technology Department.

Scott Bert was not present but submitted information to the board on the Maintenance Department.

Mr. Coffey updated the board on the Athletic Department.

Mr. Kittell, High School Principal, reported to the Board of Education:

The WYSE team finished 1st in the Regional and has qualified for the Sectional.

Operation Teen Safe Driving tied for first out of 17 teams and was awarded $1,000.

Freshman orientation was held February 16th.

Mr. Lochhead, Grade School Principal, reported to the Board of Education:

Spirit Week was January 25-29.

IPI data collection was February 9.

Mr. Lochhead gave an update on the Pavilion.

Ms. Keim, District Superintendent, reported to the Board of Education:

She presented the board information on FY10 and FY11 financial projections.

The board approved the district bills in the amount of $420,006.46 and district payroll in the amount of $419,226.69 as presented.

The Board approved the second reading of the following school policies.

The board approved the destruction of verbatim audio recordings of all closed session meetings prior to June 2005 as per 5.ILSC 120/206.

The board approved the resignation from Jennifer Stumpe, 8th grade girls' basketball coach.

The board approved the intent to retire from Brenda Montroy, 5th grade teacher, at the end of the 2011-2012 school year.

The board approved the resignation from Paula Engel, GS Paraprofessional, at the end of the 2009-2010 school year.

The board approved the intent to retire from Mary McCormick, GS custodian, on June 30, 2015.

The board adopted the resolution authorizing non-reemployment of full time second and third year teachers: Tina Thornberry, Melissa Duncan, and Christopher Land.

The board did not approve the resolution authorizing the dismissal of full time education support personnel: Sonya Alms, Bette Conley, Tammy Grah, Layla Kaspar, Lynn Kerkhover, Melissa Knop, Jenny Krantz, Cookie Rathert, Marla Rockwell, Tammy Surman, Beth Wingerter, Tracy Woods, Allison Blechle, Annette Draves, Charnelle Lilley, and Martha Walker.

The board approved the resolution authorizing dismissal of part-time Educational Support Personnel: Mary DeLeon, Brandy Gendron, Melvin Stueve, Kristy Phillips, Therese Getty, Tina Wahl, Lucy Phillips, Rhonda Bixby, and Tammy Brockhouse.

The board approved the seniority list for Certified and support staff.

The board entered into executive session at 8:34 p.m. to discuss the appointment, employment, compensation, discipline, performance, or dismissal of specific employees of the public body.

The board returned to open session at 11:50 p.m.

The board adjourned at 11:50 p.m.

The next regular meeting of the Board of Education will be held on Thursday, March 18, 2010 at 7:00 p.m. in the Chester School District Unit Office, 1940 Swanwick St., Chester, IL.
