Girls Prep Basketball: Lady Indians fall on Senior Night
</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[Du Quoin High School's girls basketball team put together a solid four quarter effort against one of the state's better Class 2A teams Tuesday night.
Celebrating its Senior Night, the Lady Tribe fell to 10th ranked Nashville 52-27 in Anders Gymnasium. Now 11-12, the Lady Indians finish regular season play Thursday at Anna-Jonesboro.
In River-to-River Conference play, Du Quoin is 2-7.
"Our defense was much better tonight and I thought we competed pretty well against Nashville," Lady Indians coach Jason James said.
"Megi Jones and Keawna Anders both had great games on the defensive end. Our girls really played hard and hung in against Nashville pretty good."
The Hornettes raced to 21-5 and 33-12 leads after the first two quarter-stops before Du Quoin played Nashville almost even (19-15) over the last two frames.
Jessica Hirsch had 12 points-all coming on three-point hoops-to lead Du Quoin. Rebekah Maddox added six points.
Jennifer Moeller's game-high 14 points paced Nashville.
"Offensively we took much care of the ball and had some good looks at the basket," File said. "The intensity was just so much better,"
Prior to the game, seniors Kelsey Smith and LaKeisha were honored.
In the junior varsity battle, Nashville rolled to a 47-22 victory.
The Lady Indians (9-9, 3-6) were led by Cassidy Rice with five points and five rebounds.
