After the Panthers led 26-21 midway through the third period, the Wildcats went on an 11-2 run to close out the quarter, including a trio of three-pointers.
Nathan Morton's put-back with 4:45 left in the game started a 6-0 run for the Panthers. Morton dished to Drew Dudek for two a possession later before a baseline jumper by Shay Kellerman put Pinckneyville ahead 40-37.
It wasn't foul trouble, but a lack of team fouls that hurt the WIidcats, as they had only one foul in the second half when it came time to try and force the Panthers into shooting free throws with just over two minutes remaining.
A-J hit enough shots to stay close, but Dudek was there for Pinckneyville at the line in the clutch, sinking six free throws in the final 12.3 seconds.
