SIJHSAA Girls Basketball: Local team ousted from state

Friday night, Pinckneyville (Junior High School) fell 48-16 against Pope County (Middle School) in the Class M State quarterfinals at Rend Lake College.
Tamaroa/St. Bruno's, part of the Class S Elite Eight, lost its game to Bartelso (Grade School) 50-36.

The Junior Panthers are 12-9, 6-5 in Junior Southwestern Egyptian Conference (Jr. SWEC) play.
Chase Lazenby and Robbie Mueller each scored six points for PJHS with Brayden Cowley adding five.
Tamaroa/St. Bruno's boys ended their regular season with a modest two-game win streak, defeating DeSoto (Grade School) 52-44.
Nolan Luke had 21 points and seven rebounds for the Indians with Kyle Brocaille netting 12 points and Dayne Winter handing out four assists.
T/SB (7-16) was 4-8 in Quad County Athletic Conference (QCAC) play and begins regional tournament action this week.
At the seventh grade level, T/SB (12-3, 10-2) posted a 59-17 win over DeSoto. Jordan Grissom (25) and Robbie Borchelt (11) were top point-makers for T/SB.
Brock Bullar added nine points.
