St. John's Lady?Hornets score big

</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[The B-team started of the night in a close game with a 24-20 victory over the Steeleville Public's Lady Braves. St. John's B-team consists of five 7th graders, three 6th graders, and four 5th graders. The B-team finished their season with a 6-3 record. Sarah Liefer tossed in 8 points, grabbed 4 rebounds and stole the ball 4 times; Alyssa Hoops scored 8 points, had 2 big rebounds, snagged 3 steals, and tallied 2 assists; Lindsay Hammel had 4 points, 4 rebounds, and 3 steals; Deanna Hohgrefe tossed in 4 points and was 2-3 from the FT line, and also grabbed 3 rebounds; Sarah Hecht grabbed 4 rebounds and had 2 steals; Sydney Levan, a 5th grader, had 2 rebounds, 3 steals, and 1 assist in the game; Mallory Westerman added 1 rebound; and Megan Brockmeyer added 1 assist to the game.

In A-Team action, the Lady Hornets ran away with a 52-22 win over the Lady Braves on 8th grade night. Averi Mueller had a huge game as she led all scorers with a game high 20 points, she also had a big game on the boards with 24 rebounds, she also contributed 3 steals and 1 assist in the contest; Kaley Ludwig also had a great game with 15 points (including 1 three-pointer), 1 rebound, 2 steals, and 2 assists; Sarah Liefer had a big game as well with 14 points, 5 rebounds, and 3 steals; Tasha Pulliam had a strong game with 5 rebounds, 5 steals, and 5 assists; Alyssa Hoops came off the bench and added 2 points and 1 assist; Deanne Hohgrefe came off the bench drew a foul and sank 1 free throw; Lindsay Hammel came off the bench and grabbed 2 rebounds and tallied 2 assists; Mallory Westerman played a solid game and had 2 big rebounds and had 1 assist. The Lady Hornets will go into the Regional Tournament with a regular season record of 10-9 (this is the first time St. John has had a Girls' Basketball team above .500 since the 2002-2003 season). St. John also collected 2 Consolation Trophies this year, one in the All-Lutheran Tournament at St. Mark's in Steeleville and the other at the Christ Jacob Tournament at the Christian Academy in Murphysboro.
