Girls Prep Basketbal: Cold shooting haunts Lady Panthers

</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[Struggles at the free throw stripe-and difficulties scoring in the paint-caught up with Pinckneyville Community High School's girls basketball team Tuesday night.

The Lady Panthers, 12-5, missed a dozen foul shots and dropped a narrow 58-55 decision to Carlyle in Thomas Memorial Gymnasium.

PCHS plays again at home Thursday, hosting Murphysboro.

"In the end our woes at the free throw line and missed lay-up's just did us win," Lady Panthers coach Alan Engelhardt said. "On the other hand, 55 points should win most games for us. We have to buckle down and do a better job defensively."

The game was close throughout with leading 24-23 at halftime before Pinckneyville surged back in front 41-40 to begin the final frame.

Emily Miller led the Lady Panthers with a game-high 21 points. She also had seven points.

Taylor Cicardi added 12 points and Mo Ramsey 11.

Cheyenne Conner (five), Katrina Henson (four) and Heather Simpson (two) completed the scoring.
