Coltin Cole is welterweight Ultimate Fighting Champion
</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[Coltin Cole of Du Quoin is the new HB Dick promotions MMA cagefighting welterweight champion.
Cole traveled to Murray, Ky. Saturday to face Chad Snider of Tennessee in the co-main event welterweight title fight at the United States National Guard Armory.
Cole rains out of UFC legend Matt Hughes Hit Squad in Granite City and was hand picked by fight promoter HB Dick to fight for the HBD Welterweight title after he successfully dominated and defeated tough man Darrick "The Moose" Williams Nov. 19 at Paducah in a middleweight 185 lbs. MMA cage fight.
With less than a month to prepare for his fight Cole had to get to 170 lbs which is the cut off weight to be able to compete in the welterweight division.
Cole who usually fights at 170 lbs., was coming off a middleweight fight at 185 lbs.
Through dedication in training,devotion to the sport,and respect for his trainers Cole was able to cut the 15 lbs of weight while maintaining his health and strength.
Barely 10 seconds into the second round, Snider came at Cole and Cole landed a vicious kick to Sniders head with his right leg . Snider stumbled backwards four steps and dropped to the canvas.
Not only did Cole overcome the odds of not having a lot of time to prepare for his opponent-cutting the weight-and defeating his opponent to win the championship he also won over the crowd and brought the belt home to Du Quoin.
Cole will get the rest of the year off from fighting and his next fight is scheduled Jan. 23 at the Marion Cultural and Civic Center.
He is scheduled to face Brad Callhoun in a Fight Factory welterweight championship bout.
Cole is also going to be fighting at the Hard Rock casino in Las Vegas Nevada in 2010.

Coltin is the son of Dennis and Marsha Cole of Du Quoin and was a football and track athlete at Du Quoin High School.
A 2007 graduate of DHS, Cole started at center on the football squad.
