Victor Drugs earns Medicare Accreditation; Pharmacy provides Medicare equipment & supplies
</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[Victor Drugs has been awarded Durable Medical Equipment, Prosthetics, Orthotics & Supplies (DMEPOS) Accreditation from National Association of Boards of Pharmacy (NABP). Earning the accreditation allows the pharmacy to continue to provide products like diabetic equipment & supplies, quad canes, walkers & other medical equipment to Medicare Beneficiaries. Pharmacies, including Victor Drugs, that are accredited through the NABP's DMEPOS program, "help ensure that Medicare beneficiaries receive the appropriate products, services and patient care associated with DMEPOS products," stated the NABP website.
In addition to billing Medicare for diabetic equipment & supplies, the pharmacy has a special over-the-counter section for diabetic patients, called Diabetes Life Center. "The diabetic-friendly section makes it easy for diabetic patients to find products that meet their needs," stated Diane Meyerhoff, Pharmacist at Victor Drugs. Products included in the section are blood glucose meters & testing supplies, sugar-free candy, health & beauty products, nutritionals, vitamins, cough and cold products and patient accessories.
Medicare beneficiaries can continue to shop the pharmacy's line of quad canes & walkers. In addition, special orders for a desired style of walker, quad cane, or rollator usually arrive the next day. "With a doctor's order, Medicare pays 80% of the cost for a mobility aid," confirmed Meyerhoff.
Victor Drugs pursued DMEPOS accreditation in accordance with The Medicare Improvements for Patients and Providers Act of 2008, which required all DMEPOS suppliers to meet quality standards for Medicare accreditation by January 1, 2010. Under current legislation, after January 1st only organizations that have successfully completed accreditation are able to bill Medicare for DMEPOS supplies & services. "We're pleased to have completed Medicare accreditation, so we can continue to offer Medicare beneficiaries with DMEPOS products," stated Meyerhoff.
