Girls Prep Basketball: Lady Panthers Blitz Benton
</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[For a team struggling with its offensive confidence, Pinckneyville Community High School's girls basketball team looked pretty darn sharp offensively Thursday night.
Very sharp, in fact.
The Lady Panthers ripped the nets for what's believed to be an all-time girls record of 105 points during a 54-point win (105-51) over Benton.
PCHS is off to be one of its best starts ever with a 6-0 mark.
Against Benton (2-5), Pinckneyville shooters were an amazing 31-for-38 (81%) during the first half.
"It was nice to just see the girls go out and just have fun," Lady Panthers coach Alan Engelhardt said. "We looked for shots tonight instead of thinking about whether or not to shoot. That led us into some pretty good looks at the basket."
PCHS had six players reach double figure scoring, led by the 16 points of Maddy Keith.
Cheyenne Conner and Dani Jenkel added 14 apiece, Katrina Henson 13, Mo Ramsey 10 and Taylor Cicardi 10.
Pinckneyville decided things early, racing to a 35-7 lead as the first quarter ended. By halftime, the margin was 66-21.
"Though we shot the ball really well, no one was greedy," said Engelhardt.
"We kept sharing the ball so everyone was getting good looks at the basket. It paid off with six girls reaching double figures."
Pinckneyville returns to River-to-River Conference play Monday night, battling pre-season favorite Nashville in Thomas Gy,
