2009 Trico Pioneers Invitational: Fourth Quarter Seals Elverado's Fate

</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[Elverado High School's Boys Basketball team had its first victory of the season lined up in its sights Wednesday night at the 9th Annual Trico Pioneers Invitational Tournament.

However, the Fighting Falcons went ice cold from the floor and never recovered.

Trailing Shawnee 35-33 entering the final quarter, Elverado was held scoreless in the last eight minutes of play and dropped a 50-33 decision to the Redskins.

The Fighting Falcons, 0-2, were led by the 15-point effort of Kyle Kempfer. Shawnee is 1-1.

Herby Sandlin and Dalton Porter each netted eight points. Friday night, EHS plays Egyptian at 5:30.

Also Wednesday, Trico (2-0) bested Egyptian (0-2) 64-54 and Red Bud (2-0) won over Steeleville (1-1) 54-45.
