</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[ The Pinckneyville Community High School Board of Education hired TMW to complete the due diligence work for the grant application for a new facility. TMW, a civil engineering firm, conducted the land survey for PCHS two years ago.

TMW's proposal came with a price of $5,300. The district would also be responsible for paying for any necessary survey work not conducted by TMW.

The land survey was one of the initial steps in the process to build a new high school at the current location. The new facility will be attached to Thomas Gymnasium and will be have the same square footage as the current building.

Students will not be displaced during the construction of a new school. The current building will remain standing until the new one is complete.

After completion, the current facility would be razed to make room for additional parking.

The board opted to build a new school after the 10-year health/life/safety survey indicated that the district must spend millions to correct problems such as deteriorating window lintels.

The ISBE has approved all three health/life/safety amendments to build a new facilities.

The last cost estimate put the construction cost at $12 million to $15 million. However, the actual cost will be determined by the architect and construction manager, who will work together to complete plans for the new building.

The board heard a proposal from District Architect Dave Mevert to lead the school through the selection of a construction manager on an hourly basis with the cost not to exceed $9,800.

Four bonding firms gave presentations at the special meeting Monday evening. The four firms were: BMO Capital, Stifel Nicolaus, Edward Jones and First Mid-State.

The board asked that the boding firms re-work some numbers prior to the Nov. 23 board meeting.

Superintendent Jon Green said he expects the board to select a bonding firm at the next regular meeting.

In other business, the board:

hired Haven Hicks as a volunteer basketball coach and Troy Griffith as a volunteer wrestling coach.
