The Road to Champaign: Du Quoin
</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[For the 23rd time in 26 state playoff appearances, the Du Quoin Indians are headed to the second round of Class 3A.
Saturday afternoon, the Indians chugged past Hillsboro 21-6 at Van Metre Field, securing a Sweet 6 16 spot alongside Tolono Unity (10-0) next weekend.
Unity won its game over Robinson Saturday and will meet Du Quoin for the first time.
Expect game time and other informaton to be released Monday.
David Rose returned a pass interception 24 yards to begin Saturday's scoring.
A 2-yard run by David Gaytan gave the Tribe (9-1) a 14-0 halftime edge.
In the third quarter, Matt Gossett's 6-yard pass on fourth down and goal to Brandon Williams accounted for the final Du Quoin TD. Cayle Diggins kicked all three extra points for Du Quoin.
Hillsboro scored early in the final quarter on a 9-yard run by Scott Ettling.
