Girls Prep Volleyball: Lady Indians, Lady Panthers Finish with Wins

</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[Du Quoin High School's Girls Volleyball team will play at least one more match on the floor of Anders Memorial Gymnasium-hosting next week's Class 2A Regional Tournament has made that a given.

The Lady Tribe, however, put together one of their best home efforts of the entire season together Thursday night in a solid victory over 22-game winner Steeleville.

Scores were 25-20, 25-19 as Du Quoin ended regular season play with a 13-19 record.

Freshman middle hitter Rebekah Maddox led a strong Du Quoin charge at the net, throwing down a dozen kills. She also had five blocks.

Sophomore setter Megi Jones also was solid, handing out a match-high 16 assists.

"Wow, what a team effort," Lady Indians coach Isaac Miller said. "The girls played really great."

After holding back a late Steeleville rally to win game one, Du Quoin opened a late six-point cushion on a stuff-block by Maddox at 21-15.

Keawna Anders threw down a kill for a 24-19 lead and senior Staci Davis-honored prior to play along with teammate Nastia Campanella- ended the evening with a kill.

Anders had six kills with nine service points while Davis added six points, six assists and seven digs.

Jones, Ashley Ward and Campanella all had six digs.

Jessica Hirsch added six points and a pair of service aces. Kelsey Toler contributed four kills, three digs, three assists and a pair of blocks.

LADY PANTHERS WIN

In Thomas Gym Thursday, Pinckneyville's young Lady Panthers completed a 12-17 regular season with a 25-15, 19-25, 25-12 victory over Marissa-Coulterville.

Mo Ramsey and Maddie Keith led the way for PCHS with seven kills and four blocks apiece.

Haleigh Hagood added four kills.
