SIRR Volleyball: Carterville makes Senior Night at Elverado tough
</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[Elverado High School honored its senior volleyball players prior to a tough home match against perennial Black Diamond Conference powerhouse Carterville Thursday night.
Scores were 11-25 and 16-25 as Elverado dipped to 5-12 overall and 2-5 within the Black Diamond Conference.
Next week, the Lady Falcons end regular season play with matches at Zeigler-Royalton and Trico.
"I wish we didn't have to play Carterville on our Senior Night," Elverado coach Donette Wheatley said. "Our girls made some great, great hustle plays. This was just a tough night for our seniors."
EHS had five points from Allie Griest and with three kills each from Adrienne Hardwig and Tiffany Yearian.
Allie Griest and Chelsea Cochran contributed five digs apiece.
Kelsey Tuthill, Hillary Dinkins, Griest and Arika Mace played their final home matches on the floor of Piper/Valerius Gym.
The Lady Falcons completed a perfect 7-0 freshman schedule, defeating Carterville 25-9, 25-17 in Thursday's first match.
Kaylee Gresham had 12 points with Erika Will adding nine kills.
Meghann Trammel (five) led in digs. In BDC play, the frosh were perfect in five matches.
Lexi Ratajczak and Jenny Sarensen combined to go 10-for-11 serving wtth seven points and three service aces.
