Cross Country: Pinckneyville Keeps Title Trophy at Home

</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[Pinckneyville Community High School weathered cool and windy conditions to win the team titles of its own Panther Invitational Cross Country meet Tuesday at Lake Salateeska State Park.

The meet was postponed by heavy rains last week and drew teams and/or individuals from seven area teams.

In the boys race, PCHS (41) edged past New Athens (50) for the boys team crown. Chester (61), Waterloo Gibault (113), Okawville (158) and Valmeyer (no score) completed the field.

Chris Koester of Waterloo Gibault was the individual champion with AJ Ross of Pinckneyville earning the second place medal.

Shay Kellerman (third) and Zach Hall (seventh) also earning medallions.

PCHS easily out-distanced Waterloo Gibault, 35-71, in the girls race.

Chester (76), Okawville (77) and New Athens (111) also entered.

Molly Works of New Athens was first with Emily Miller of Pinckneyville second.

Mo Ramsey (sixth), Paige Brocaille (seventh) and Katrina Henson (eighth) medalling.

PCHS runs Thursday in the SIRR meet at Herrin.
