BASKETBALL: Lady Falcons let lead slip away against Trico
Elverado fought back from a slow start to Monday night's game to build an eleven-point lead heading into the fourth quarter, but got outscored 32-15 in the final period to allow Trico to escape with a 56-50 victory in Elkville.
The Lady Pioneers' Jessica Prange exploded for 18 points in the fourth quarter and led all scorers with 33 points in the game despite making just 5-of-15 free throws. Only four Trico players scored in the victory, and the team shot just 10-for-29 at the line.
Elverado was also hurt by poor free throw shooting, making good on just 17-of-41 at the charity stripe.
Cheyenne Abbadusky led EHS with 20 points, Paige Newfarmer added 12, Brooke Whittington 7, Kylee Bedar 6, Hannah Alstat 2, Emma Bigham 2 and Kaitlin Lively 1.
Elverado won the junior varsity game earlier in the evening, 30-27. Ehlers had 9 points to lead the way, Alstat and Gabby Jeschke both had 6, Kennedy Kimmel 4, Whittington 3 and Savannah Valerius 2.
The Lady Falcons (1-6) are at home again on Thursday night against Zeigler-Royalton-Christopher.
