BASKETBALL: Falcons finish third at Crab Orchard

With weekend victories over Joppa and Dongola, the Elverado Falcons boys basketball team rode a three-game winning streak to a third place showing at the Crab Orchard Turkey Tournament. EHS's Tyler Funk and Luke Jones were named to the event's all-tournament team.

The Falcons defeated Joppa 49-42 on Friday as Jones (14 points) and Funk (10) both scored in double figures. Alec Valerius added nine points, Chase Cross seven, Justin Sarensen four, Brendan Garcia three and Sage Sarensen two.

On Saturday, Elverado knocked off Dongola 61-58 with Funk pouring in twenty points and grabbing ten rebounds to lead the way for the Falcons. J. Sarensen added sixteen points, Valerius twelve, Jones nine, Cross three and S. Sarensen one.

The Falcons (3-2) are at Marissa on Tuesday night before returning home on Friday for their home opener against Meridian.
