SIJHSAA Softball Regional Final: #204 is State Bound !
</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[ For the second time in school history, Pinckneyville (#204) is sending its girls softball team to the Southern Illinois Junior High School Athletic Association (SIJHSAA) Class S State Tournament.
Last Saturday at #204, the Lady Tigers won their own regional with a thrilling 6-5 win over Chester (St. John's).
Next up for #204 will be a battle with Grayville(Grade School) at 11:30 Saturday morning.
The Class S State finals are played at the Coulterville City Park.
Coached by Bryant Hale and Cindy Opp, the #204 roster includes Caitie Opp, Kelsey Ginn, Taylor Smith, Sophie Keith, Sydney Ginn, Lexi Conner, Maggie Sanders, Kalie Bathon, Leigha Yeager, Maddie Jones, Megan Bailey and Alyssa Hirsch.
Fellow Pinckneyville Community High School feeder St. Bruno/Tamaroa is in the same bracket at state with the Lady Tigers.
Also this week, another local school, Trico (Junior High School), qualified for the Class M State Tourney in Centralia with a 4-2 win over Pinckneyville (Junior High School).
Coached by Du Quoin's Steve Toler, Trico plays Goreville at 2:30 p.m. Saturday in the quarterfinal round at Rotary Park Complex.
