</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[

St. John's United Church of Christ will hold their first sausage supper in over a decade on Saturday, Nov. 14 from 4 to 8 p.m.

The meal will be buffet style and will feature sausage, mashed potatoes, kettle beans, and sauerkraut and all the fixings. There will be plenty of desserts to choose from, as well. Tea and coffee will be provided with the meal.

The sausage supper will be made using the original recipe, as requested by fans of the German meals from the good old days.

St. John's had been known over the years for their delicious annual sausage suppers. For over two decades St. John's hosted the annual event, drawing patrons from all over southern Illinois. The dinners were discontinued in the late 1990's after 24 years of serving up the German meal.

Tickets will be $8 for adults, $4 for children 4-10 years in age, and children 3 years of age and under eat free. Carryout will be available for those that can not dine in.

Proceeds from the dinner will benefit approximately 10 different programs. Each year in December, St. John's church makes donations to local charities and ministries. All proceeds from the supper will be donated to various organizations for community programs such as 'Shop with a Cop' and 'Five Star' that use the money to purchase Christmas gifts for those less fortunate.

Remember the date, Saturday, November 14 at St. John's United Church of Christ, 20 South Hickory Street in Du Quoin.
