Thursday's Frosh Football: Young Tribe Blasts Carterville

</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[ Du Quoin High School's Freshman Football team blitzed visiting Carterville with all 39 of its points in the first half Thursday night, rolling to a lopsided win at Van Metre Field.

The final score was 39-12 as the young Indians improved to 4-1. Next week, they'll visit Pinckneyville.

Carterville's record dipped to 3-2.

A pair of first quarter touchdown passes put Du Quoin ahead early.

Brenden Fred's 40-yard strike to Daulton Beltz started the scoring and Fred connected with Austin Mansker on a 65-yard TD as the lead reached 13-0. Dalton Donoghue also kicked a PAT followiing Du Quoin's first touchdown.

In the second quarter-and with the score 13-6-the Indians again reached paydirt on a 1-yard plunge by Nate Boss.

Shayne Baxter's nine-yard run and a 2-yard blast from Trayvon Jones, along with two more Donoghue kicks, put Du Quoin up 33-6.

Moments before halftime, Jones broke free for the final Du Quoin TD from 13 yards out.

Defensively, Luke Holland recovered a fumble with Dalton Pinski recording an interception.

Haeden Sweetin added a quarterback sack.
