Six Du Quoin Drug Arrests
</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[The Du Quoin Police Department announced six drug arrests in the area on Monday, Sept. 21.
Du Quoin Chief of Police Mike Ward said this brings the total to 11 subjects arrested over the last three weeks for selling drugs in Du Quoin. The task force conducted all of the investigations.
On Sept. 17, Rodell A. Jones, 22, of Du Quoin was arrested by the Perry County Sheriff's Department and Du Quoin police on a warrant for one count of unlawful delivery of a controlled substance (crack cocaine). The offense is a Class 2 felony and could result in a 3 to 7 year sentence in the Department of Corrections. The Perry County Drug Task Force began the investigation. Jones was arrested at the Perry County Courthouse and was taken to the Perry County Jail. Bond was set at $4,000 cash.
On Sept. 18, Kasey M. Simpson, 28, of Du Quoin was arrested by Du Quoin Police and Perry County deputies on a warrant for one count of unlawful delivery of cannabis (30 to 500 grams.) The offense is a Class 3 felony and could result in a 2 to 5 years sentence. The task force alleges that Simpson supplied cannabis for sale in Du Quoin. He was taken to the Perry County Jail. Bond is set at $3,000 cash.
On September 18, Michael M. Simpson, 30, of Du Quoin, was arrested by the Perry County Sheriff's Department for unlawful possession of a controlled substance. In June 2009 Simpson was involved in a traffic stop in Du Quoin, where police allege Simpson possessed a small amount of crack cocaine. Simpson was taken to the Perry County Jail. Bond is set at $2,000 cash.
On September 18, Du Quoin and Perry County authorities arrested Michael A. Brown, 27, of Du Quoin for two counts of delivery of a controlled substance and one count of delivery of cannabis. Du Quoin assistant Chief of Police Jamie Ellermeyer said Brown supplied prescription medication for sale (Vicodin) in Du Quoin. Brown had a small amount of cannabis in his possession at the time of the arrest. He was taken to the Perry County Jail. bond is set at $3,000 cash.
On the same day, Springfield police arrested Shannon Fronek, 26, and Lukas R. Jones, 19, previously of Du Quoin on Perry County warrants. Fronek was charged with unlawful delivery of a controlled substance psilocybin (mushrooms), which is an hallucinogenic. Jones was arrested on two counts of delivery of a controlled substance. Both remain in the Sangamon County Jail, where Fronek has a $3,000 cash bond and Jones a $2,000 cash bond. The Sheriff's Department worked alongside Springfield police in conveying information about the suspects.
