Elverado 0-2 in Early BDC, Du Quoin wins again in Tourney
</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[Visiting Christopher spoiled Elverado High School's home volleyball debut Thursday night, winning a tough three-game match in Piper-Valerius Gymnasium.
Scores were 25-22, 23-25, 15-25 as the Lady Falcons fell to 0-2.
The contest was also their second Black Diamond Conference match of 2009.
"We were right there," EHS coach Donette Wheatley said. "We have to learn to be mentally tough and gain the confidence to know that we can win. We let one mistake turn into 10 mistakes during that final game."
Allie Griest had 16 points at the serving line with Tiffany Yearian and Hillary Dinkins each recording five kills.
Kelsey Tuthill had eight service aces.
The Lady Falcons play again Tuesday at Carterville.

Du Quoin (3-4) improved to 2-1 at the Marissa-Coulterville Invitational Tournament with a narrow win over Trenton-Wesclin Thursday. Scores were 21-16, 22-20.
The Lady Indians play 2-1 Pinckneyville at 4:30 Friday with both squads guaranteed of again playing again later in Friday's final round.
Freshman Cassidy Rice led Du Quoin with 12 points and was 16-16 at the serving line with four aces and eight digs.
Kelsey Toler (eight kills) led at the net.
Pinckneyville won over Lebanon, 2-0 and is also 2-1 in the tourney.
