Computer Classes Start Tuesday at John A. Logan Du Quoin Campus
</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[If you want to learn to use a computer, expand your computer skills, or if you have a digital camera that you want to learn how to use, there is a continuing education class for you at the John A. Logan Alongi Extension Center in Du Quoin. Students who are 66 old or older will not be required to pay tuition and will only pay the $10 fee.
If you have questions or need help deciding which of these four classes to take, you may call the instructor, Brenda Teaney, at 542-4417 during the day, before 5 PM.
Students may register at the first class but there is limited seating and sometimes classes fill up quickly. It is better to register as soon as possible to be assured a seat.
Introduction to MS Office 2007 (part 2) Learn Word, Excel and PowerPoint. Basics will be reviewed and students will make slide shows, flyers, letters, budgets, and more. Great for students, secretaries, club and church officers, teachers, and anyone who just enjoys advancing their computer knowledge. Must have basic computer skills. 10 AM to 12 on Mondays starting September 14.
Basic Computer Potpourri (Part 1) The subjects covered in this class will depend on the needs expressed by the students but will likely include the following: Internet and computer security; review computer and internet skills; basic introductions to EBay; YouTube; Facebook; investigate social networking sites and other popular internet destinations; and more. Basic computer skills necessary. 2-4 PM on Mondays starting September 14.
Basic Digital Camera for Beginners For those who have never used a digital camera. Learn the basic features of digital cameras and how to take good photos. First class discusses what you need to know when buying a camera so it is not necessary to have one until the second class. Bring everything that came with your camera. Important to have basic computer skills. Tuesdays 1-3 PM starting September 8.
Introduction to The World of Computers for Adults Hands on training for the person who has not used a computer and needs instruction on how to get started using it. Class will be customized for the needs of those taking the class. Not necessary to own a PC. 5-7 PM starting September 8.
Each class will be two hours long.
