SENIOR AMERICAN LEGION: Rain Alters 25th District Schedule
</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[ Torrential rainfall late Saturday and through most of Sunday has forced several changes in the 25th District Senior American Legion Baseball Tournament.
Two complete games were finished Saturday as the event began at Steeleville, but a third contest ended up being suspended. Play was then called off Sunday.
Rigdon Field at the Perry County Fairgrounds in Pinckneyville will host two games in the tournament Monday night, beginning with completion of the Sparta (Post 396) vs. Orient (Post 1961) game at 5 o'clock.
Orient was in front 3-2 when weather halted play in the seventh inning.
About thirty minutes following the loser of that game is set to play Pinckneyville (Post 2504).
Winners bracket games continue at Steeleville Monday (Murphysboro vs. Steeleville, 5 p.m. and Marion against the Orient-Sparta winner at 8 o'clock).
Saturday, Post #2504 began district play with a 12-2 loss in seven innings against Marion. The loss was the fourth of the season to Marion by Pinckneyville (6-14), despite Post #2504 scoring first.
In the first, Michael Rakers stroked an RBI double to give Pinckneyville its early advantage.
Marion, however, would respond with six unearned runs in the second inning to go ahead 7-1.
Drew Dudek suffered the pitching loss. Jeff Thornton pitched four strong innings of relief for Post #2504 and Landon Chandler smacked a pair of basehits.
In Saturday's first game, host Steeleville (Post 480) ripped Carbondale (Post 514) 11-2.
The tournament is slated to return its entire schedule back to Steeleville Tuesday.
