Swimming Indians Place Third

</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[ Du Quoin's Swimming Indians placed third last Saturday in the Centralia Seals Invitational Meet.

Scoring 479 points, Du Quoin trailed just champion Herrin (574) and runner-up Charleston (574). Mt. Vernon, Salem, Centralia and Nashville also participated.

Trevor Jones and Olivia Cravens each won multiple individual event titles to pace Du Quoin's effort.

Three more Swimming Indians team records were shattered at Centralia.

- Girls 8 & under 100m Individual Medley, Olivia Cravens 1:54.63. (Old record Rachel Gomes 2:23.07, 2008)

-Boys 13-14 50m Freestyle; John Galik improved his existing record to 28.52.

-Boys 13-14 50m Breaststroke ; John Galik improved his existing record to .35.09.

Thursday, the Swimming Indians visit Marion in a showdown to determine first place in the Southern Illinois Swim League (SISL).

Du Quoin and Marion are both 6-0 in SISL competition. Herrin has one defeat.
