Teen Technically at Fault in June 1 Accident West of Tamaroa

</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[ The findings of a Jackson County Sheriff's Department reconstruction officer indicate that the teen who was driving a 1997 Chevy in a June 1 accident northwest of Tamaroa where a passenger died was technically at fault.

No citations will be issued to either teen driver Brianna Stehl of Pinckneyville nor to truck driver Travis Reidelberger of Mount Vernon who T-boned the Stehl car at the intersection of Falcon Road and Grosbeak Road. Passenger Charles Solt, 20, of Coulterville died in the accident. The report said drivers had only 1.5 seconds to react to the accident because of lack of visibility because of trees on private property.

Illinois law says a driver must yield to the vehicle on the immediate right at an unmarked intersection. That would have meant that the Stehl vehicle should have yielded to the Reidelberger truck. The findings indicate that the Reidelberger truck was traveling at no more than 43 mph and the Stehl vehicle was traveling at no more than 30 mph when the two vehicles collides. There were no other factors that contributed to the accident.
