IHSA SECTIONAL UPDATE: Du Quoin, Elverado, Pinckneyville all Washed out

Wednesday afternoon, she was again up to her old tricks.
Rain, hail and thunderstorms halted <span style="background: transparent none repeat scroll 0% 0%; cursor: pointer; -moz-background-clip: -moz-initial; -moz-background-origin: -moz-initial; -moz-background-inline-policy: -moz-initial;" class="yshortcuts" id="lw_1243477403_0">Illinois High School Association</span> (IHSA) Sectional baseball and softball games scheduled for at least three local venues.
The Pinckneyville Class 2A softball sectional game between the host Lady Panthers was pushed back until 3:30 Thursday with Waterloo <span class="yshortcuts" id="lw_1243477403_1">Gibault</span> Catholic and Carmi-White County delayed until 5:30 p.m.
At Campbell Hill in Class 1A softball, Trico and Elverado will now play at 4:30 Thursday. Cobden vs. <span class="yshortcuts" id="lw_1243477403_2">Pope County</span>, the other semifinal, is now set for Friday afternoon.
Du Quoin and host Greenville were scoreless in 2A baseball when lightning forced a halt in play as the Comets batted in the home half of the third inning. Umpires postponed the game until 4:30 Thursday about an hour later as <span style="border-bottom: 1px dashed rgb(0, 102, 204); cursor: pointer;" class="yshortcuts" id="lw_1243477403_3">heavy rains</span> began to pound Bond County.
When play resumes, <span style="border-bottom: 1px dashed rgb(0, 102, 204); cursor: pointer;" class="yshortcuts" id="lw_1243477403_4">Greenville</span> has a runner on <span style="border-bottom: 1px dashed rgb(0, 102, 204); cursor: pointer;" class="yshortcuts" id="lw_1243477403_5">second base</span> with no out against Indians' ace Josh Cushman.
Du Quoin had scoring chances escape in the second and third innings.
Nick Baskin's shot into right centerfield with two on and two out was flagged down by Greenville's Camerron Dugan.
An inning later, Cale Bastien's two-out liner was snared by Greenville third-sacker Dan Baumberger to end a bases loaded threat.
The Indians had two hits, singles from Bastien and Cushman. The lone mark by Greenville was Dugan, who doubled seconds before play stopped.
Wesclin and Edwardsville Metro East Lutheran will meet in the second semifinal game Friday at 4:30.
