The Lady Panthers (21-5) ripped visiting Nashville 9-0 to complete a River-to-River Conference, Mississippi Division contest suspended six days prior. In SIRR play, Pinckenyville is 7-2 and hoped to win the league title outright again with a win against co-leader Anna-Jonesboro Wednesday. However, the game was canceled by rain. Thursday, PCHS plays Marion at SIU-C.
A five-run second inning -keyed by two-run singles from Mo Ramsey and Emily Chapman-propelled the Lady Panthers.
PCHS also had RBI hits from Dani Jenkel and Maddy Keith with Chapman (three RBI) and Nicole Cheek (3-for-3) enjoying big days at the plate.
"We came out and took care of business early," Pinckneyville coach Greg Hale said. "Chapman and Ramsey had big hits when the game resumed. And Malanowski had a nice game pitching with the shutout."
Malanowski (6-3) gave Nashville (10-11, 3-5) just four hits. She struck out nine.
Jenkel and Chapman each had two hits. Kortney Crawford singled.
