Commencement May 15 in Pinckneyville District 50

</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[ The Pinckneyville Dist. 50 Board of Education continued their April meeting to Wednesday, April 29 at 7 p.m. At that time, new board members will be sworn in and board officers elected.

The district is preparing for a focus monitoring visit from the state on April 27 and 28. Superintendent Tim O'Leary said that this will be the first time a focus monitoring visit has been done in Pinckneyville. As part of the focus monitoring, there will be a meeting at 6 p.m. on April 27 for parents of the district's special education students.

In other business, the board:

-- set the last day of school as May 21 for this school year. Graduation will be May 15 at 7 p.m. at the Junior High School.

-- adopted the 2009-2010 school calendar. The first day of school will be Friday, Aug. 14. A teacher's institute will be held on Aug. 13.

-- heard that 62 students have registered for kindergarten next year. There are 64 students in kindergarten this year.
