ELVERADO SOFTBALL: Lady Falcons Sweep Past Webber
</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[ Elverado High School's Girls Softball hiked its record to 6-2 with a pair of lopsided wins Saturday.
The Lady Falcons battered visiting Webber Township 17-1 and 7-2 at the Elkville Village Park.
Combining for 26 hits in the the two games, Elverado enjoyed its best offensive day of the season.
Tuesday at home, they'll start Black Diamond Conference play against Vienna at the Elkville Village Park.
"We hit the heck out of the ball," Elverado coach Donette Wheatley said. "It was a pretty good day for us. Our field drains well and we were really happy to just play."
In the first game, EHS exploded for 16 of its runs in the opening two frames of the five-inning contest.
Jenna Cochran and Katie Watts each had three-hit games and combined for seven RBI- four by Watts.
Kelsey Tuthill, Rachel Hunziker and Sami Hicks also had two-hit days.
Chelsea Cochran, Courtney Morse, Mallory Winthrop and Lacie Tow all had hits.
J. Cochran (3-2) was the winning pitcher, whiffing eight in three innings.
Tuthill (1-0) fanned seven and scattered five hits in game #2. She was also 3-for-3 at the plate with three RBI.
J. Cochran added two more hits.
LADY PANTHERS
Pinckneyville Community High School began play at the Marshall Co., Ky. Slugfest against host Marshall Co. late Friday, losing 4-1.
PCHS was to play at least three more games at the tourney Saturday. No information was provided to the paper by press time Monday.
