DU QUOIN BOYS TRACK: Indians Return with Three First's

</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[ With three individual first place finishes-and strong efforts across the board-Du Quoin High School's Boys Track and Field team brought home medals in 16 different events at the Benton Spring Fling Saturday afternoon.

Sophomore Karson Hoffman was first in the 200 (23.9) and 400 meters while placing second in the Triple Jump and 100 meters.

Trevor Hoffman blazed to an impressive early season time (40.9) to win the 300 meter intermediate hurdles.

"We had some very strong efforts and our kids continue working hard to get better," Du Quoin coach Al Martin said. "It was a long day and a long meet with the girls also there but I thought we performed very well. Our young kids are improving."

Brock Morgenstern (third place Discus and fourth place Shot Put) led the Indians weight contingent.

Dalton Morgan added a fifth place effort in the Shot Put.

Freshmen Cayle Diggins (Pole Vault) and Brandon Williams (Discus) were also fifth place winners.

Du Quoin had four third place showings in the relays.

The 4x100 team of Blake Hester, Morgan, T. Hoffman and David Rose ran 46.2 with Hester and Rose joined by David Gayton and James Williams in the 4x200.

Williams, Marcus Clarry, Rose and T. Hoffman were the 4x400 squad wirh Dillon Beltz, Quinton Mathis, Diggins and Quivon Bledsoe running the 4x200 frosh relay.

"We've got almost two weeks off now until our next meet (Sesser-Valier Relays April 20)," Martin said. "That's a long time behind meets but have some kids who are fighting the injury bug a little."

The Benton Freshman Invitational set for Tuesday has been moved to early next month and a four-team at Carbondale Thursday has been cancelled.
