Jr. High Volleyball: Third Straight 20-Win Season for DMS

</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[ Du Quoin (Middle School) sewed up another 20-win volleyball season Thursday night, moving closer to repeat championships in the Junior Southwestern Egyptian Conference (Jr. SWEC) at the same time.

The Lady Warriors ripped host Sparta (Middle School) 25-10 and 25-11, improving to 20-5-1 overall.

In the Jr. SWEC, Du Quoin is 10-1 with one league contest remaining.

"Its nice to get 20 wins any season," DMS coach Isaac Miller said. "Our consistency is getting much better at the serving line. I think we are starting to play our best volleyball at the right time."

Cassidy Rice led DMS with 20 points, going 22-for-22 at the line, while notching 12 aces and nine digs.

Rebekah Maddox recorded 11 kills and two blocks with Jessie Martin passing out eight assists.

In the seventh grade match, Du Quoin (11-5, 8-3) lost in three games. Scores were 25-11, 23-25, 9-15.

Tuesday, DMS swept matches at Nashville.

The varsity won 25-19, 25-10 and the seventh graders took a 25-17, 25-21 decision.

Saturday, the Lady Warriors varsity team competes in the rugged Massac County Invitational in Metropolis. They'll play in pool #2 to start the day, with matches scheduled against Lick Creek, Goreville and Jonesboro.

Massac County, Herrin, Eldorado and Harrisburg make up the first pool.

"The Massac Invitational is going to be tough," Miller admitted.

DMS finishes regular season play with Eighth Grade Night Monday in a return match against Sparta.
