Du Quoin Pizza Hut Plans New Spot Across Street

The new restaurant will borrow from the look of this Pizza Hut in Harlan, Kentucky, according to Chris Bachelor, district manager. Chris is proud of the fact he started out washing dishes for a Pizza Hut at the age of 16 and in 21 year's time has risen to the ranks of district manager for Rage, Inc. He said the current 1980s vintage building at the corner of Grant Way and South Washington is in disrepair and it is time to give the community a new restaurant to be proud of. Bachelor said Skoffic Construction Co. of Du Quoin has been retained as the builder and is currently demolishing three houses on four lots just north of the Marion Eye Center and Mc Donald's. He said the entrance to the restaurant will face south. It will feature a larger, modern kitchen, a similar sized dining room, and will move the salad bar off to the side and out of the way. Bathrooms will be modern and ADA-compliant. Bachelor said that except for unique marble countertops and cabinetry, all of the construction materials will be purchased locally. He said this commitment is important to the community's economy as is the company's employment of 15-16 local employees to staff the new restaurant. "We want this to be a very nice place for you to go after a ballgame or a place you can bring your date," he said. Weather-permitting, the building should be finished by late spring or early summer.
